One night, it was merely a toggle between boring TV channels when I came across a report that churned me a big deal.
The outstanding story of Rosemarie Siggins, is not just a 5-minute report on a handicapped woman, it’s a perfect manifestation of what a ‘fighter’ should be. Born with a rare genetic disorder known as Sacral Agenesis, Siggins describes her painful disability “If you take a Barbie doll and remove its legs, the region you are left with is what I have”.
I watched some clips of her extraordinary life, and left astonished how a she could manage it through life. She uses a skating board to move around, depending on her hands in pushing her body and directing her moves. Sometimes when she’s not equipped with her board, she has to step with her body into puddles of mud just to cross over to the other side of the street. (Can you imagine that?)
Not only that she can heroically manage her physical disability, but also she has to take care of her own family; a loving husband, two kids, and a mentally retarded brother.
It’s amazing how a person with -literally- half a body can lead a perfect “whole” life….
We need to revisit our lives, value all the little things that we took for granted.....&...think again...
